Do not overdo it, honing takes material off of the cyl wall and effectively makes the bore larger. For the guy at home, honing with a drill and traditional hone with someone spraying WD-40 on the cylinder wall the whole time, less than 15 seconds per cylinder is required. If the block is honed correctly for the rings being used, there is little to no ring break-in. Rings and honing procedures have come a long way since the old cast iron ring days.
